Nick Timms is the founder and head Architectural Designer at Ink Architecture. Nick graduated from WINTEC with a National Diploma in Architectural Technology in 2007, and has over thirteen years’ experience in the architecture industry.
Before deciding on a career as an Architectural Designer, Nick gained first-hand experience in the construction industry by working as a roofer. Whilst studying, Nick worked part time for a local award-winning architectural firm. This was followed by periods working as a builder, quantity surveyor, and timber merchant, before returning to his passion for architectural design. Nick’s diverse experience in the construction industry has ensured he has extensive knowledge of all things architecture, whether it be timber, building products, budgeting and design.
When he’s not working you can usually find Nick outdoors – playing golf, cricket, or even running half-marathons on the odd occasion. He also enjoys putting his tools to good use with a bit of DIY around the home and is the proud owner of five flourishing beehives.
Druden Watene is our right-hand man in the office. He was born and raised in Hamilton; his iwi is Waikato Tainui and Ngapuhi. Druden graduated with a National Diploma in Architectural Technology from WINTEC in 2017 and brings a fresh and keen approach to Ink Architecture.
He is an extremely creative and artistic young man, and this natural ability flows through to his designs at work. Polite and super detailed, this guy keeps our plans looking mint, our ideas fresh and greets everyone with a smile.
His spare time is mostly taken up by creating art (sketching and painting) and working on his car. He’s also a passionate music man who can play a variety of instruments. He loves his whanau and hanging out with his tight-knit group of friends too.
Born in Rotorua and raised locally in Cambridge, Matt is our most recent addition to the team at Ink. He has always been passionate about design and creativity, and this led to a strong interest in architecture during high school. Fast forward a few years and Matt is now a student at WINTEC, finishing off his final year of Architectural Technology. When he isn’t busy with his studies, Matt brings his great energy and enthusiasm to the Ink office. We look forward to seeing Matt continue to grow and excel in the industry.
Outside of work, Matt will either be watching sports (NRL rugby league, NBA basketball, NFL American Football) with friends and family, playing music with a couple of mates or running to keep
